Sign up here for The Backyard Farmer Volunteer Experience for our hands-on introduction to local farming. You’ll learn how to grow your own food, connect with local farmers and discover the rewards of volunteering on a local farm in the Cayman Islands.

Our farm produces a diverse selection of fruits, vegetables and ornamental plants, along with egg producing chickens, a menagerie of farm pets that include pigeons, fish, rabbits and we’re pleased to announce our goats have recently welcomed some kids to our farm family!

The Volunteer Experience

Register for a unique weekend morning volunteer experience with no experience or green thumb required.

All that’s needed is an interest for being in nature, sharing what your passionate about and growing together, within our safe and friendly farm community.

Each weekend, volunteers will be welcomed by farm owners, George and Jen on their Bodden Town farm at 8:00am to explore a different area of the farm and get involved with essential day to day farm volunteer activities:

Activities Include:

Fruits, Vegetables and Ornamental Plants

Chickens, eggs and other birds

Aquaponics, fish and farm animal care

Getting Prepared

We encourage everyone to wear comfortable and casual clothing that they don’t mind getting a little dirt on, such as a pair of long pants, shirts with long sleeves.

Closed toe shoes are a must on the farm, so wear sneakers or a good ol’ pair of work boots to keep those toes safe!

Don’t forget to apply sunscreen to your face, neck and arms (especially if you decide to wear short sleeved shirts.) You can always bring a hat too!

We encourage everyone to bring a pair of gardening gloves. If you don’t already have a pair, check your local grocery store or home centre for an affordable pair.

Bring your full (reusable) water bottle to stay hydrated and refreshed. We’ll have fresh drinking water available to refill your bottles.
